Organization and permission management

Understand how memberships, permissions, and verification control access to protected-area data.

All permissions for protected areas and for editing them are linked to the organization. This ensures that data is not assigned to outdated or unused accounts, but can be managed by all registered staff of the respective organizations. Activation requests for protected areas always apply to the entire organization.

Effective permissions for organizations

A user can edit protected-area data only if all conditions are true:

  1. The user has an activated organization membership.
  2. The organization itself is activated.
  3. The organization has an activated permission for the specific protected area.

This access gate is used for protected-area editing and related entities such as rules, legal documents, and wildlife records. If one of the three conditions is missing, editing is blocked. The list of responsible organizations is derived from active editing permissions for the corresponding protected areas.

Membership options and differences

A user can only be a member of one organization at a time. If you work for different authorities in parallel, please register with separate email addresses and assign each account to the corresponding organization.

Admin

All organization management tasks can be handled by admins. Organization admins can manage members and organization settings, and they can edit all protected areas that their organization has permissions for. The person who creates an organization is automatically assigned the admin role. Every organization must always have at least one admin. Admins cannot remove themselves.

Member

Members cannot manage organization settings or other members. Members can edit all protected areas that their organization has permissions for.
