Nationalpark Donau-Auen

National Park

Austria - Niederösterreich, Wien

Area: 100.69km²

The Donau-Auen National Park preserves the last large floodplain landscape in Central Europe over an area of more than 9,600 hectares. It extends across the provinces of Vienna and Lower Austria. When it was founded in 1996, this natural jewel was placed under long-term international protection. Since then, flora and fauna have been able to flourish here free from economic constraints. The protected area can be visited for walking, hiking and cycling and there is no entrance fee. However, the applicable legal regulations must be observed, including the requirement to use paths. The marked hiking trails and designated cycle routes are not permitted to be left. The schlossORTH National Park Centre in Orth an der Donau and the National Park House wien-lobAU in Vienna's 22nd district serve as contact points for guests. Information and booking centre, excursion destination and event venue all under one roof.
