Huntloser Moor

Nature Reserve

Germany - Niedersachsen

Area: 1.50km²

In the 150-hectare nature reserve, a moor that formed in the primeval valley of the Hunte is being maintained and developed. Today, the Huntloser Moor is not a real moor, but essentially a birch-alder swamp forest. There are a number of damp hollows in the swamp forest, probably formed from the original hand peat bogs, in which more typical moorland plants and animals can develop. Around a quarter of the area of the nature reserve is farmed as extensive grassland.
