The area encompasses various types of flowing and standing water, reed beds and sedge marshes, flat, intermediate and raised bogs, as well as wet and marshy meadows. In addition, scrub and fringe biotopes are part of the area, which also includes flat, intermediate and raised bogs. The purpose of protecting this area is to preserve and develop the Jagdhausweiher pond and the largely undisturbed and unbroken Aschbach Valley and lower Rambach Valley.
