Wildlife Sanctuary

  • straighten 10.43km²

The Swiss Wildlife reserves seek to protect selected species as well as their habitats. In addition to hunting, the use of those areas for recreational purposes may also be restricted, e.g., Winter sports may only be carried out on marked trails. Dogs should be kept on a leash in the forest. A cantonal license is required before conducting sporting events. That also applies to winter sports with the same access restrictions as those in the wildlife refuges, which have laws that require individuals to stay on the marked tracks and paths.
