Designated paths/places
The protected area is part of the once extensive moorland of the northern Rhine Valley. The litter meadows and other agricultural areas of this vast wetland landscape provide an important habitat for numerous endangered plant and animal species. The area is of particular significance for ground-nesting bird species such as the Northern Lapwing, Corn Crake, and Whinchat.
