The Selzniederung nature reserve serves to preserve and develop an ecologically valuable area. It comprises a near-natural stream, remnants of floodplain forest, woodlands, standing water bodies, reed beds and wet fallow land. These areas provide habitats for rare plant and animal species and are part of a networked biotope system in the Selz catchment area.
