Description
Gorinsee is a valuable nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, characterized by a heavily silted lake surrounded by unique alder carrs and diverse mixed deciduous forests. This special wetland serves as a sanctuary for a rich flora and fauna. Here, you'll discover rare floating plants, a diverse sedge and moss flora, and various ferns. The adjacent Kleine Borinwiese meadow is home to rare orchid species. The lake is a crucial breeding ground for crane pairs and white-tailed eagles. In autumn, it provides a resting place for up to 2000 geese, including greylag, bean, and white-fronted geese. Rare bird species such as the wood sandpiper, common greenshank, and great bittern, alongside various ground beetle species, also thrive here. Its protection ensures the preservation of these unique habitats of significant landscape beauty.
