Located in Rhineland-Palatinate’s Southern Wine Route district, Haardtrand – Annaberg is a nature reserve covering around 26 hectares. Established in 1991, this protected area preserves a charming mix of natural habitats and cultural landscapes typical of the region’s eastern mountain edge. The reserve is known for its mosaic of vineyard terraces, orchards, shrublands, and forest edges — habitats shaped by both nature and traditional land use over many years. This diversity supports a wide range of plants and animals, contributing to the region’s rich biodiversity. Haardtrand – Annaberg offers a glimpse into the unique relationship between people and landscape in this part of Germany, where centuries of cultivation and care have created a vibrant natural environment.
