Additionally, it features moist arable lands that serve as habitats for typical and rare wild plant species. The area provides living spaces, resting, overwintering, and stepping-stone biotopes for typical and rare animal species that are threatened in their existence. It is part of a networked biotope system that encompasses the catchment area of the Selz.
