he protected area serves to preserve and develop an ecologically valuable section of the Selz lowlands. It includes a near-natural stream, wooded areas, high-stem margins, meadows, wet fallow land, and reed beds. Additionally, it features moist arable lands that serve as habitats for typical and rare wild plant species. The area provides living spaces, resting, overwintering, and stepping-stone biotopes for typical and rare animal species that are threatened in their existence. It is part of a networked biotope system that encompasses the catchment area of the Selz.
