The area, which is located in the Selztal landscape conservation area, comprises a section of the Selz lowlands. It is characterised by a near-natural stream, extensive reed beds and wet fallow land. There are also copses, pollarded trees and temporary shallow water areas. The permanently moist and frequently flooded grasslands and arable land contribute to the ecological diversity of the area.
