The Irrlichtsweiher Nature Reserve is located in the Westerwald district in Rhineland-Palatinate. The approximately 17.3-hectare area was designated as a protected site in 1990 and lies southwest of the local municipality of Herschbach. The purpose of the protection is the preservation of the wetland as a habitat for rare and endangered wild-growing plants and plant communities, as well as a refuge for threatened animal species — also for scientific reasons.
