The fenced orchid protection area with nutrient-poor dry soil aims to preserve rare semi-dry and dry grasslands and adjacent habitats, providing shelter for endangered plant and animal species, including various gentians, orchids, the red-backed shrike, and the smooth snake.
The area is primarily an orchid protection zone, fenced off and not accessible without special permission. Due to its natural dryness, the soil is nutrient-poor, creating ideal conditions for plants adapted to these sparse conditions, which would otherwise be overgrown by other plants in more nutrient-rich environments. The main purpose of protection is the preservation of orchid-rich semi-dry and dry grasslands, along with adjacent shrub formations and mixed forest areas. These provide suitable habitats for threatened animal and plant species and their communities. Rare plants found in the area include the German gentian, fringed gentian, pasqueflower, branching wild lily, as well as the orchids lesser butterfly-orchid and greater two-leaved orchid. Recorded animal species include the red-backed shrike, silver-green blue butterfly, and smooth snake.
