Description

The Klinker Plage nature reserve, located on the northeastern edge of the Lewitz landscape in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is a significant protected area dedicated to preserving unique moorland ecosystems. It encompasses two distinct moor types: a fascinating verlandungsmoor, a fen formed by the infilling of a former lake, in its northwestern section, and a pristine kettle bog in the southeast. These valuable habitats are naturally regulated by groundwater and precipitation, ensuring their excellent condition. The reserve provides a vital sanctuary for specialized plant and animal species adapted to these rare wetland environments. While there are no public paths within the area, views of this important natural landscape can be enjoyed from the steep slope located to the south.
