The Krüselinsee und Mechowseen Nature Reserve preserves a diverse landscape of forests, moors, and lakes. It features rare spring-fed lakes, like Krüselinsee, known for its excellent water quality due to strong underlying springs. Other calcareous mesotrophic lakes include Kleiner and Großer Mechowsee, Weutschsee, and Waschsee. The area also protects a nutrient-poor moor with a "Kolk" (pool), ancient pine stands, and extensively managed wet meadows and dry grasslands. This mosaic of habitats holds European significance as a Natura 2000 (FFH) site within the Feldberger Seenlandschaft Nature Park. The primary purpose of protection is to safeguard these unique and structurally rich ecosystems. Hiking trails offer opportunities to observe this special natural environment.
