The Langenberg and Bocksberg nature reserve near Wallendorf is located in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate. 47.5 hectares in size, the area was placed under protection in 1991 and lies to the north-west of the village of Wallendorf. The Our River, which also forms the national border with Luxembourg, flows not far to the south. The aim of the conservation area is to preserve and develop south-facing semi-arid grasslands on extremely steep slopes, particularly dry smooth oat meadows, orchards, dry stone walls, shrub formations and areas of mixed deciduous forest. The latter consist partly of coppice forest and partly of remnants of oak-elderberry forests. In addition, spring hollows with neighbouring wet meadows are protected habitats for numerous endangered animal and plant species. Another purpose of protection is to preserve the character of a cultural landscape in its former, small-scale utilisation.
