Monbijou is a designated nature reserve in Rheinland-Pfalz, established in 1978. Located northwest of Dietrichingen, the area borders the Zweibrücken airfield to the west. Its primary purpose is to preserve a mosaic of unique habitats, including valuable dry grasslands, semi-dry grasslands, and diverse forest edge and forest communities. These environments provide essential refuge and crucial living spaces for rare plant species and their communities, as well as for a variety of rare animal species. The protection of Monbijou ensures the continued existence of these sensitive ecosystems and their biodiversity.
