The Weissensee Nature Park The area around Lake Weissensee was designated a nature park by the state of Carinthia on May 9, 2006. The 7,640.45-hectare Weissensee Nature Park is located in the eastern Gailtal Alps and is part of a particularly natural area and is strictly protected. The considerate treatment of the cultural and natural landscape by the inhabitants has made a decisive contribution to the preservation of this valuable natural area. The Weißensee Nature Park therefore sees itself as a model region for sustainable development.
