The Nordufer Langhagensee und Kleiner Langhagensee nature reserve protects nutrient-poor lakes with periodically dry shores, inland dunes, and a unique kettle bog with a pond in the Wooster Heide. It's a vital FFH and bird sanctuary.
The Nordufer Langhagensee und Kleiner Langhagensee nature reserve, nestled within the Nossentiner-Schwinzer Heide Nature Park, safeguards a distinctive lake landscape. It features nutrient-poor lakes, such as Langhagensee, known for its periodically dry shores. These dynamic areas provide essential habitats for specialized flora and fauna. Adjacent to the lakes are valuable inland dunes, representing another rare biotope structure. A core component is also Kleiner Langhagensee, a nutrient-poor kettle bog with a pond in the Wooster Heide. This mosaic of diverse, sometimes extreme, habitats makes the area a significant refuge for numerous species. Furthermore, the entire area is designated as a European FFH and bird protection area, underscoring its ecological importance and contributing to the preservation of this unique natural heritage.
