The Berkmecke-Talsystem nature reserve safeguards a valuable, mountainous meadow valley within the Rothaar Mountains. It boasts a rich variety of habitats, including expansive lean pastures on the valley slopes and significant wet and spring-fed moist grasslands along the stream. Protection focuses particularly on the rare and endangered plant species that thrive here.
