Description
The Berkmecke-Talsystem nature reserve safeguards a valuable, mountainous meadow valley within the Rothaar Mountains. It boasts a rich variety of habitats, including expansive lean pastures on the valley slopes and significant wet and spring-fed moist grasslands along the stream. Protection focuses particularly on the rare and endangered plant species that thrive here. This area is an essential component of the Hallenberger Wald FFH site, contributing significantly to enhanced biotope connectivity and the overall ecological health of the region. Restoration of former grassland areas is also a key objective. Here, an outstandingly beautiful open valley reveals itself, nestled within the otherwise largely forested landscape.
