Description
The Dingdener Heide Nature Reserve in North Rhine-Westphalia safeguards precious wet and damp grasslands and their characteristic biodiversity. It is crucial for maintaining open landscapes that serve as a vital habitat and resting area for numerous endangered bird species. Here, birds such as Lapwing, Black-tailed Godwit, Redshank, Oystercatcher, Meadow Pipit, Eurasian Hobby, Common Snipe, Eurasian Curlew, Yellow Wagtail, Common Teal, Red-backed Shrike, Quail, Common Ringed Plover, and Little Owl thrive. Migratory birds like Greater White-fronted Goose, European Golden Plover, Hen Harrier, Wood Sandpiper, and Northern Shoveler also utilize these areas for resting and feeding. The reserve is further characterized by a diverse, typical rural cultural landscape, which is significant not only for the regional biotope network but also enhances the landscape's special character and beauty.
