Description
The Helpensteiner Bachtal nature reserve protects valuable spring areas, streams, and ponds, along with significant bog forests, alder-ash forests, natural beech and oak woodlands, sand heaths, and heathlands. These diverse habitats provide refuge for a rich array of flora and fauna. Rare species like the Kingfisher, Black Woodpecker, Golden Oriole, Nightingale, Sedge Warbler, and Great Crested Newt thrive here. The Green Woodpecker, Royal Fern, Bog Asphodel, Natterjack Toad, and Common Clubtail also find crucial habitats within this area. The reserve is vital for ecological connectivity and features cultural-historical elements such as ancient mounds, flax retting pits, and old wall and ditch systems. It is dedicated to preserving and developing natural ecosystems and their characteristic inhabitants.
