Krosewicker Grenzwald protects valuable wet heaths and oligotrophic/mesotrophic waters. It's home to rare floating water-plantain and Corn Crake, preserving crucial habitats.

Description

The Krosewicker Grenzwald safeguards a unique natural landscape in Vreden. This area features valuable oligo- to mesotrophic standing waters with characteristic vegetation from Littorelletea uniflorae and/or Isoeto-Nanojuncetea. Additionally, wet heaths of the North Atlantic region with Erica tetralix are of great importance. The reserve provides a vital habitat for the rare Floating Water-plantain (Luronium natans) and serves as a breeding ground for bird species such as the Corn Crake (Crex crex). Protection focuses on maintaining and restoring these natural habitats and the associated wild animal and plant species of community interest.
