Description
Nestled in Winterberg's landscape, the nature reserve Liemecke and surrounding slope forests safeguard diverse habitats. This area is crucial for maintaining species-rich wet and lean grasslands, which are often extensively grazed, as well as their unique associated forest communities. The reserve contributes significantly to the ecological potential of the region. The protection extends to specific forest areas recognized for their distinctive character and stunning scenic beauty, particularly the dramatic steep slopes descending from the Harfeld plateau into the "Hohe Seite" valley gorges. These features hold both ecological and regional historical importance. Efforts focus on preserving the traditional grassland use, vital for the biotope mosaic, and strengthening the overall biotope network within the picturesque Orke valley system. This ensures the continued health and biodiversity of these significant natural landscapes.
