Description
The Listertal nature reserve safeguards the impressive diversity of the Lister river and its floodplain. It preserves natural communities along the river, its woody margins, and various wet to moist meadows and pastures. These unique biotopes provide vital habitats for numerous wild plant and animal species, some of which are endangered. A key objective is also the restoration of the original floodplain character. The area is notable for the exceptional beauty of its largely open low mountain valley on the southern slope of the Ebbegebirge, serving as a precious natural sanctuary.
