Description
The Medebach-Frauenbruch Nature Reserve (NSG) is a vital core zone within the European Medebacher Bucht bird sanctuary and the "Waldreservat Glindfeld-Orketal" FFH area. It was established to preserve a botanically diverse and floristically rich valley-lowland biotope complex. This special area ensures the sustainable protection of particularly valuable habitats in the Piezfeld-Frauenbruch sub-area. The reserve is home to ecologically significant habitats of community interest, including meadows characterized by tall oat-grass and great burnet. These meadows are crucial for the protection of rare bird species such as the Whinchat and the Meadow Pipit, which find their habitat here. Medebach-Frauenbruch exemplifies the diverse natural environment of the Hochsauerland district and contributes significantly to maintaining regional biodiversity.
