Description
The Mittleres Hoppecketal nature reserve in the Sauerland region preserves a unique grassland valley system between Brilon-Wald and Hoppecke. This valuable area is dedicated to the conservation and development of rare animal and plant species and their specific habitats. Simultaneously, it protects the historical surroundings of the "Alte Hütte" in its original form, thereby highlighting the cultural significance of the site. The special character of the valley, nestled within a largely continuous forest area, contributes significantly to the regional landscape quality. As an integral part of the European Natura 2000 network, specifically the "Diemel and Hoppecke River System" FFH area and the "Diemel and Hoppecke Valley with adjacent forests" bird sanctuary, it makes an important contribution to the preservation of biodiversity.
