This protected area preserves unique dry grasslands, forests, and small water bodies, providing vital habitat for rare amphibians, Red-backed Shrikes, and Red Kites. It also holds scientific and natural history significance.
The NSG Standortübungsplatz bei Büecke protects a regionally significant complex of dry grasslands, small water bodies, deciduous forests, shrubs, and fringe areas. It provides a vital habitat for rare and endangered animal and plant species. The small water bodies, formed by past military use and maintained by occasional vehicle traffic, are particularly valuable spawning grounds for a critically endangered amphibian species. This area also safeguards habitats for other species listed in the Habitats Directive, as well as bird species such as the Red-backed Shrike and Red Kite. Its natural, cultural-historical, and scientific importance, alongside its unique character and beauty, further justify its protection.
