NSG Stilleking is a significant Natura 2000 site (DE-4811-301) in the Märkischer Kreis, preserving a rich natural landscape. It features a mosaic of diverse grasslands, fallow complexes, natural forests, and a meandering stream. Particularly noteworthy are the priority alder-ash and soft-wood alluvial forests, as well as Luzula beech forests. Its valuable dry heathlands also contribute to the unique character. The special history as a former military training ground has led to a distinctive development of its habitats. This area provides a protected space for rare animal and plant species, including endangered birds like the Hen Harrier, Great Grey Shrike, and Red-backed Shrike, as well as the European bullhead.
