Description

The Udorfer Mühle Nature Reserve protects valuable dry and semi-dry grasslands, renowned for their biodiversity. It is a crucial habitat for a rich flora and fauna, especially for the endangered Red-backed Shrike. Special features include unique calcareous dry grasslands, classified as a priority habitat, and extensive juniper heathlands. These areas are part of a larger biotope network and ensure the coherence of the European Natura 2000 protected area system. The wooded terrace edges also give the area a distinctive landscape character and contribute to the region's beauty. Rare plant species and specialized insects, adapted to these nutrient-poor sites, thrive here.
