This diverse landscape supports many endangered bird, insect, and plant species, contributing to the European Natura 2000 network. The area also protects vast, pristine montane beech mixed forests and alder-ash forests along numerous springs and streams, providing a crucial refuge for rare fauna and flora. Unique habitats like ravine and slope mixed forests, juniper heaths, and silicate scree slopes add to its ecological value. Species like the Red Kite, Black Woodpecker, Kingfisher, Red-backed Shrike, Whinchat, and Meadow Pipit find sanctuary here, thriving in the undisturbed environment of this high-lying forest and meadow landscape.
