The Oppenheimer Wäldchen nature reserve is located in the Mainz-Bingen district of Rhineland-Palatinate and extends east of the town of Oppenheim along the eastern bank of the Rhine. The area comprises floodplain forests in the Rhine floodplain. These are characterized by old Rhine arms, former river channels, and temporary water bodies, which together with shallow water zones and reed beds and reeds form a diverse landscape.
