Summary

The so-called forest-wildlife sanctuaries (WWS) are voluntary protected areas that should not be entered or driven through when it is snowing! These protected areas are to be distinguished from official protected areas. They are based on the concept of voluntariness and aim to make winter tours on skis, snowshoes or on foot compatible with nature - to protect grouse and other sensitive wild animals.
