The Ried am Föhrenbach nature reserve is located in the district of Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate. The 46.5-hectare area was placed under protection by decree on 25 September 1991 and extends over the area of the local community of Föhren and the town of Schweich. It is located directly to the south of Föhren along the Föhrenbach stream. The purpose of protection is the conservation and development of the largest contiguous reed beds in the administrative district of Trier as well as the surrounding wet meadows, which serve as a habitat for numerous characteristic and endangered animal species, particularly birds and insects.
