Description

The Rosenholz und Zippelower Bachtal nature reserve, located north of Hohenzieritz, protects a diverse natural landscape in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. This area features the deciduous forests of Zippelower Holz and Rosenholz, which harbor a rich variety of plant and animal life. Central to the reserve is the fast-flowing Zippelower Bach, a vibrant spring stream that feeds into the small Eichsee. The primary purpose of protection is to preserve a largely undisturbed spring bog, the integrity of the spring stream, and the surrounding old-growth deciduous forests. These habitats are crucial for numerous species adapted to unique wetland and forest conditions. Together with neighboring protected areas, the reserve forms a significant part of the upper Tollensebecken landscape.
