Die im Gemeindeteil Bettenfeld der Stadt Rothenburg o. d. Tauber, Landkreis Ansbach, gelegene Muschel- kalkhöhle wird mit ihrem gesamten Höhlensystem und seinen Bestandteilen, insbesondere den Höhlenöffnungen, den Höhlenein- und -ausgängen, den Höhlengewässern und den Quellen unter der Bezeichnung „Schandtauberhöhle“ in den in § 2 bezeichneten Grenzen als Naturschutzgebiet geschützt.
