The Stecknitz-Delvenau nature reserve protects a meandering lowland stream – the Delvenau/Stecknitz – and its adjacent wet meadows. A unique, valuable river valley in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The Stecknitz-Delvenau nature reserve safeguards a unique river landscape in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Its centerpiece is the largely natural, meandering lowland stream Delvenau, also known as Stecknitz. Its characteristic bends and dynamic development shape the landscape. Surrounding the stream are extensive wet meadows, which serve as valuable habitats for specialized plant and animal species. This interplay of flowing water and wet grasslands is of high ecological importance, forming a crucial biotope for regional biodiversity. Protection aims to preserve this exceptional ecosystem long-term as part of the European Natura 2000 network, safeguarding its natural processes.
