The Hasselichskopf quarry nature reserve is located in the district of Altenkirchen (Westerwald) in Rhineland-Palatinate. The 30.07-hectare area was placed under protection in 1996 and extends north-east of the local community of Elkenroth. The purpose of protection is to preserve the former quarry area ‘Hasselichskopf’ with its water and shallow water zones as well as its steep areas as a habitat for rare and endangered animal species, in particular amphibians, reptiles and rare bird species.
