The Strangen Nature Reserve, located north of Zarrentin within the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve, protects a valuable lakeside bog complex and the bay-rich Kirchensee with its diverse littoral zones. This unique landscape, which also includes the Strangen peninsula and adjacent lowlands, developed undisturbed for decades. Its secluded position along the former inner-German border significantly contributed to this. Rare plants and animals find a protected habitat here. As part of the Schaalsee Natura 2000 site, the area offers a circular path to observe nature and appreciate the significance of this special place.
