The Tetzitzer See mit Halbinsel Liddow und Banzelvitzer Berge nature reserve on the island of Rügen safeguards a unique section of the North Rügen Bodden waters. This area boasts an impressive diversity of habitats, encompassing the shallow Tetzitzer Lake, the Liddow peninsula, and the Banzelvitzer Berge hills. It serves as a crucial resting and breeding ground for a wide array of bird species, contributing significantly to regional biodiversity. The well-preserved grazed salt marshes are a particular highlight, while the Tetzitzer Lake is connected to the Großer Jasmunder Bodden. Protected under EU law as part of the North Rügen Bodden Landscape FFH area and the Binnenbodden von Rügen bird sanctuary, its natural beauty and ecological importance are recognized. A designated hiking trail connects Liddow to Banzelvitz, allowing a glimpse into these special environments.
