The Trebeltal Nature Reserve, nestled within a boggy section of the historic border valley between Mecklenburg and Pomerania, is a crucial haven for biodiversity. This area encompasses diverse landscapes, including extensive polder areas, old river arms of the Trebel, peat bogs, swamp forests, and dry grassland slopes. It is a vital sanctuary for numerous amphibians like the Common Spadefoot Toad and European Tree Frog, which in turn support breeding populations of majestic birds of prey, including the Lesser Spotted Eagle, Red Kite, and Marsh Harrier. Reptiles such as the Adder and Grass Snake thrive here, alongside mammals like Beavers and Otters. The reserve is also home to rare plants like Jacob's Ladder and unique meadow communities, highlighting its ecological importance.
