Tucked away in the heart of the West Eifel region, the Urprümschleife near Echtershausen is a small but ecologically rich nature reserve in Rhineland-Palatinate. Covering about 6.5 hectares, this protected area was established in 1996 to preserve a former river meander of the Prüm. Its landscape is shaped by wet meadows, marshes, and lowland moor complexes—an important habitat for many rare and specialized species. The reserve offers visitors a chance to experience the natural beauty and ecological value of a landscape that reflects the region's ancient river systems and rich biodiversity.
