Struth

Nature Reserve

Beschreibung und Karte

The Struth area is characterised by deciduous and coniferous forests, wet meadows and heathland. Near-natural spring streams, ponds and pools form a diverse mosaic of biotopes.

The area, whose utilisation can be traced back to the Celtic period through the discovery of burial mounds, consists of deciduous and coniferous forests interspersed with extensive wet meadows and small areas of heathland. The wetlands include near-natural spring streams, ponds and pools, which together form a diverse mosaic of biotopes. In the Struth, many endangered animal and plant species find an ideal habitat, which is guaranteed by the protected, naturally formed wetland and swamp forest areas. Particularly noteworthy are the protected Bechstein's bat and the broad-edged beetle, which are listed in the Natura 2000 Habitats Directive.
