Located in the scenic Southern Wine Route district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Haardtrand – Auf dem Kirchberg is a nature reserve spanning approximately 84 hectares. Established in 1991, it lies within the areas of Albersweiler, Birkweiler, and Queichhambach—an outlying district of Annweiler am Trifels. This protected area is part of the transitional zone between the Palatinate Forest and the Rhine valley, featuring diverse habitats that support a variety of plant and animal species. Its ecological value is enhanced by the mix of natural landscapes, cultural history, and traditional land use patterns in the region. As part of the broader Haardtrand ridge, this reserve contributes to the preservation of a unique and valuable stretch of nature in southwestern Germany.
