Nestled on the eastern slopes of Heidelberg in Rhineland-Palatinate, Haardtrand – An der Kropsburg is a protected nature reserve covering around 31.5 hectares. Established in 1991, this area preserves a vibrant section of the region’s characteristic mixed forest, home to sweet chestnut, aspen, sessile oak, and pine trees. Located just southwest of the village of Sankt Martin and near the historic Kropsburg castle, the reserve offers a quiet glimpse into the diverse natural landscapes of the Palatinate Forest’s edge. Its ecological richness and scenic woodland reflect both the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the area, making it a meaningful place to explore and appreciate nature.
