The Römersköpfchen nature reserve near Messerich in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm covers around 8 hectares and is located to the north-west of the village of Messerich and close to the River Nims. It protects the Keuper grasslands and calcareous grasslands with adjoining areas of scrub and mixed woodland as an important habitat for numerous thermophilic and highly endangered animal and plant species, in particular the Lorraine flax variant of the gentian semi-dry grassland.
