Nature Reserve

The Holzbachtal nature reserve is located in the Westerwald district of Rhineland-Palatinate. The area, which covers around 45 hectares, was designated as a protected area in 1990 and extends east of the municipality of Herschbach. The state road L 292 runs to the north, and the L 305 to the west. The Holzbach stream flows through the area. The purpose of the protection is to preserve the wetland as a habitat for rare and endangered wild plants and plant communities, as well as a habitat for threatened animal species.
