Description & Map
The Weiherwiese nature reserve near St. Thomas in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm covers around four hectares and is located to the north of the local community of Sankt Thomas. It serves to protect and develop wetland ecosystems in the Kyll valley, including spring meadows, willow scrub, large sedge meadows, stream reeds and tall herbaceous meadows as well as ruderal areas, which are of particular importance as habitats for rare and endangered species of amphibians, birds and insects.
